How to eliminate play. If you feel play on your SPD pedals, then it is time to check and service the pedalaxle. How to do this?
- Extract the pedalaxle from the pedalbody. Use the Shimano tool TL-PD40 (see image).
- Make a visual inspection of each parts of the pedalaxle.Clean and lube them if necessary.
- Replace the pedalaxle cone and balls when they are worn out. This website also has a look-up for the original sparepart. Go to product search at the homepage.
- Adjust the pedalaxle cone with the tool TL-PD63 (see image).
If you follow above steps, you have a very good change that you eliminated the pedalaxle play. Please ask your local dealer for assistance when the play is still present.
