Baitrunner Spool System
To setup the front drag and Baitrunner spool system follow the same procedure as for the Fightin’ Drag and Baitrunner using the reel on a rod with the line threaded through. The tension for this type of reel is made using the inner knurled wheel situated inside the main Baitrunner spool cap. Utilise the bend of the rod and when the test curve is at its max then the main drag should release line from the reel, now turn the Baitrunner spool knob anticlockwise - this should be about a quarter of a turn. You’ll notice that line now releases much more freely. By alternating with this setting and the main drag setting you can get both front and Baitrunner spool drag settings exactly how you want them. To operate, cast out and ensure that the Baitrunner drag is set to minimum - when you get a run pick up the rod and gently turn the Baitrunner drag knob until you feel one click, in doing so you will achieve almost exactly the same main drag setting time after time.
Baitrunner Spool System Instructions
The new Baitrunner Spool System allows you to switch quickly and effortlessly from free spool Baitrunner mode to a pre-set drag setting.

This new feature offers major advantages over regular big pit reels where the drag has to be loosened considerably to get a free spool operation and then tightened on the strike. This adjustment, however, must be made without any fixed point of reference whilst often playing a hard fighting fish.

Your four-step guide to using the Baitrunner Spool System:
1
Completely remove the Baitrunner Spool System assembly by turning the small inner drag knob wheel anti-clockwise. Replace Baitrunner Spool System assembly and turn the large drag knob clockwise until you reach a dead stop.
2
Keep the large drag knob in this position for the time being, now turn the small inner drag knob wheel clockwise until you reach your required maximum fish playing drag (turn the spool to feel this). Using a rod will be helpful here for the inexperienced angler.
3
When you are satisfied with your fish playing drag setting you can put the spool into Baitrunner mode by turning the large drag knob anti-clockwise 3-6 audible clicks, depending on what freespool tension you require.
4
Once you have a run, pick up the rod, carefully set the hooks then turn the outer main drag knob clockwise which will return you to your preset drag setting.
If you need to adjust the main drag, you can do so using the small drag knob.

Repeat this process at the beginning of each session to ensure that you receive maximum performance from the Baitrunner Spool System.
