HISTORY

As a pioneer of snowboard step-in systems, Shimano has spent the last 13 years developing, producing and selling step-in boots and binding worldwide. Developing efficient step-in systems presents many challenges, which in turn demand the most sophisticated R&D and production facilities. Shimano Snow Technologies is able to cultivate 80 years of Shimano's design and development of bicycle components and fishing equipment. Shimano Snow Technologies has achieved great success when applying SPD technology (the most famous step-in pedal and shoe system) into snowboarding step-in systems.

Our history....

1995
Shimano in cooperation with K2, developed and released the world's first step-in snowboard system called the "Clicker". It featured a flat binding shape and highback integrated into the boot.

1998 Shimano released the "Clicker HB" system which incorporated the highback directly onto the step-in binding. Removal of the internal highback made the boots softer giving them a feel closer to strap binding and boots combo, with the step-in advantages.

2001 Shimano Snow Technologies began operating independent of K2.

2002 Shimano released "Rapidfire" with its easier step-in system and more natural riding feel.

2005 Shimano released their ultimate step-in system called "Accublade".

In order to meet the highest industry standards, Shimano Snow Technologies test all their products under extreme cold in their own test facilities. On-snow testing is also carried out on sloped around the world using riders form beginners to professionals. Shimano staff are also keen snowboarders and are on the snow as much as possible. As a result, Shimano Snow Technology systems not only provide comfort and safety, but also the ultimate riding performance.
